The name Merum is derived from the Latin word for pure, undiluted wine and reflects a commitment to making distinctive wines that reflect the pristine beauty and unique grape growing environment of the Merum Estate Vineyard – a self-contained eco-system.
When first released, the wines quickly grabbed the attention of wine enthusiasts including James Halliday who rated the winery with 5 red stars, his highest rating possible. The Semillon and Shiraz in particular received regular wine awards and outstanding reviews. As James Halliday still says on his Wine Companion website “Its wines, led by Semillon and Shiraz, have been outstanding since the word go.” We have now redeveloped the product range and the new Merum Estate Range was developed in keeping with the original Merum brand, ensuring premium wines made true to the Pemberton region. The wines are all made with 100% Estate grown fruit, using the finest French Oak and a mix of contemporary and traditional winemaking techniques.
